Position Information Position Type Professional Staff Faculty Track Position Title Director, HR Operations Employment Status Full Time Months 12 Campus Both ME Campuses Description The Director, HR Operations is a senior-level team member providing leadership in HR operations including HR systems, data analytics, benefits, shared services, and compensation. In partnership with the CHRO , the Director will develop and implement effective HR strategies to align with university objectives. The Director will have a key role in improving processes and creating innovative solutions to operational challenges.

Supports the CHRO in strategic planning, growth strategy, and organizational transformation. Collaborates with CHRO and HR leadership team to align HR initiatives with university objectives to drive organizational success. Leads and manages a team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services across HR functions. Implements, reviews, and updates compensation programs, monitoring the effectiveness and recommending changes that are consistent with compensation trends and university objectives. Oversees the day-to-day compensation and classification processes ensuring compliance with existing processes and procedures and with federal laws and regulations. Completes survey requests from a range of agencies, including, but not limited to, the Department of Labor and CUPA -HR, and compares results to university salaries. Prepares salary queries and reports in Banner and Excel; researches pay issues; assists the CHRO with various projects including pay plan development and reference guides. Develops and implements HR policies and procedures and updates Personnel Handbook as applicable and in accordance with legal requirements and industry best practices, staying current with local, state, and national regulations. Analyzes and streamlines current operational and system processes to remove inefficiencies, improve data quality, and ensure reporting accuracy and staying up-to-date with industry trends to drive innovation within the organization. Collaborates with Benefits and Leave team to continually analyze and refine benefits package to attract and retain top talent. Oversees administration of FMLA and Paid Parental Leave requests and collaborates with the Benefits and Leave Manager to provide counseling to employees and managers regarding FMLA and Medical Leaves of Absence. Stays up to date on Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA ) wage and hour laws, I-9 guidelines, and other applicable laws and regulations. Participates in special projects and process improvements related to HR and compensation, including implementation of HR-related Banner 9 and PeopleAdmin. Assists in preparing and monitoring the departmental budget as requested. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or related field (Master's degree preferred). 7-10 years of experience in a senior-level HR role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Strong knowledge of employment laws/regulations and experience ensuring compliance within an organization. Advanced knowledge of Human Resources and the laws that govern all facets of the employment process. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HR polices, procedures, and systems. Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data. Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in a collaborative manner across multiple colleges and departments. Relevant HR certifications (e.g., SHRM or HRCI ) and certified compensation professional credentials are highly desirable.
