  • Top academic credentials and graduate degree preferred, demonstrated intellectual curiosity through professional training, advanced degree, or professional impact
  • 7+ years of professional experience in consulting/professional services, law, risk or other advisory role
  • Solid experience and exposure across Middle East locations
  • Strong analytical, issue-spotting and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to handle complex, sensitive issues
  • Familiarity with some of the key risk issues faced by a global consulting firm (e.g., staffing and organizational conflicts, reputational risk)
  • Entrepreneurial, collaborative attitude, with interest and aptitude for working as part of a diverse global team
  • Excellent judgment and exceptional integrity, as well as distinctive interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Ability to work across all levels of seniority, cultivating trust-based, peer-counsellor relationships
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, changing environment; comfort and credibility in challenging discussions with senior colleagues, balancing robustness, persistence, flexibility, humility, tact, and calmness under pressure
  • Working knowledge and interest in building expertise in technology-related risks preferred (information security/cybersecurity, privacy, AI, etc.)

  • Outstanding English in written and oral communication skills, including clear and concise writing and editorial skills, with strong personal presence and credibility
WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You will be part of the firm's Client Service Risk (CSR) function whose mission is to enable client impact and innovation in a way which manages risks to our clients, people, and the firm. CSR is a globally integrated team with colleagues from diverse professional backgrounds including communications, consulting, government, and law. You will be based in one of our Africa offices comprises 6 locations across the continent (Johannesburg, Lagos, Casablanca, Nairobi, Addis Ababa and Luanda) and about 500 collaborators.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As part of the Client Service Risk (CSR) team, you will deliver expert risk advice and guidance that enables McKinsey's most cutting-edge work while building and shaping a world-class risk management program. You will review cases and provide guidance on how to manage potential risks stemming from digital client engagements and the creation and launch of various client capabilities (e.g., new service offerings; new products, including client-facing digital analytics or assets; etc.), supporting senior CSR colleagues on the most complex cases.
You will partner closely with and integrate advice from across firm functions (including Privacy, InfoSec, and Legal) and ‘cells' (practices, offices, new delivery models) to provide counsel on multi-faceted issues. You will develop and implement best practices for operational risk requirements related to software delivery (including OSS and SaaS), AI/ML, privacy, and new tech-related products. You will support program development and delivery of priority initiatives and matters.
You will be expected to develop a general knowledge of and ability to diagnose and assess risk areas and policy areas and support the broader EEMA (Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa) risk team in managing lower-risk engagements in these domains or triaging them to expert or senior colleagues.
In addition to developing your general risk knowledge you will assess the risk profile of tech-related products, tools and services that come up for review. You will assist CSR colleagues with preparing briefing materials for risk committee consideration of higher risk engagements, particularly where firm policies are not yet clear about the preferred risk stance. And you will educate colleagues in EEMA on digital and analytics/client capabilities risk matters, and support knowledge sharing initiatives across the firm as they relate to these risk areas.
